(10/12/09) Santa Cruz Sentinel – “People in Business”
Cecilia Krebs, program director of the Janus Community Clinic, recently received the Robert E. Neff award, recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of treating chemical dependency in Santa Cruz County. The award was presented by the Santa Cruz County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission as part of an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the September National Drug and Alcohol Recovery Month.
Krebs, a certified addictions registered nurse and a psychiatric nurse, has been with Janus of Santa Cruz as the community clinics program director since 2006. She lives in Santa Cruz.

(9/27/09) Santa Cruz Sentinel – Coastlines: “Janus substance abuse conference back for third year”
The Janus of Santa Cruz third annual Substance Abuse Conference, a daylong event for people interested in addiction and recovery, is 8:30 a.m.to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Hall, 170 High St.
This year's theme is "Recovery Happens! Latest Trends in the Treatment of Substance Abuse." Presentations will be on dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health issues; a research update on Janus' virtual reality therapeutic intervention project; and the latest trends in evidence-based counseling treatment and in addiction pharmacology treatment.
The annual event is put on by the nonprofit organization Janus of Santa Cruz, which provides addiction treatment. Enrollment in the conference is $35. To register or for information, call 425-0112 or visit janussc.org.

(9/7/08) Santa Cruz Sentinel – Janus to host recovery seminar
Janus of Santa Cruz will present a daylong conference on "Addiction and Recovery in the 21st Century" from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Santa Cruz Police Department community hall.
Speakers include Dr. David Mee-Lee, an internationally recognized consultant; Dr. Mark Stanford, research educator in clinical and behavioral neuroscience and manager with Santa Clara Valley Alcohol and Drug Services; Michael Cunningham, chief deputy director for the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs; Santa Cruz County Judge Paul Marigonda; and Lynn Harrison of Santa Cruz County Drug and Alcohol Program.

(10/24/06) Santa Cruz Sentinel – Name Dropping: Janus celebrates
Twenty-five years of work that brought 32,000 people into recovery were marked when Janus of Santa Cruz gathered for an anniversary celebration at Sky Park in Scotts Valley.
Some 300 people turned out for the picnic, which was part of National Recovery Month activities and included music from Crazy Heart.
Awards went to Margo Chisholm as "Volunteer of the Year," Yvonne Falk as "Outstanding Volunteer" and the Senior Council's Foster Grandparent program for "Outstanding Service" for providing infant care at the perinatal program.
Residential Program Manager Margie Storms and Janus staff surprised Executive Director Jan Tice with an award for his outstanding leadership. Among Janus board members attending were Don Nofrey, Dan Guerrero, Chris Beach, Rudy Escalante and Mike Allen.
