Contact Janus FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions regarding substance abuse treatment.

We have answers about alcoholism and drug addiction.

Q. How much does treatment cost?

Each individual’s cost of treatment depends on many factors including:
• Level of care (residential care costs more than outpatient counseling, for instance)
• Length of time in treatment
• Coverage by insurance or other resources

After your free initial assessment, an evaluation appointment will be set up. If treatment is needed, payment options and costs will be discussed with you. As a nonprofit community health resource, Janus is dedicated to making programs available and affordable for everyone. We accept most insurance plans and our self-pay plans can offer you savings of up to 75% compared to other facilities. We also offer discounts for people with low incomes. See Pricing and Insurance

Q. Will my insurance pay for treatment? Will my employer?

Many private insurance companies will cover part of treatment; our admissions staff will help you maximize your benefits. If you are eligible for disability benefits, we also can help with that process. Janus contracts with most major insurance companies, as well as Employee Assistance Programs including the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and International Union of Operating Engineers. Q. Will I be able to live at home while being treated?

It depends on the program. You will not live at home if you are admitted to the Detoxification Program or a Residential Treatment program, but enrollees in the Day Treatment and Evening Intensive Outpatient Programs can live at home. See Treatment and Services

Q. How long does treatment take?

Depending upon your specific needs, treatment may range from 4-5 days for Detoxification Treatment, to 90 days or longer in our outpatient programs. Lifetime Aftercare Counseling is provided to all clients who successfully complete the program. See Treatment and Services

You’re taking the most important step now – by deciding to consider treatment. Next, contact us: we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer Program tours and try to keep the intake and admission process as simple as possible. See Admissions

Q. I want to keep this confidential. How does Janus protect my privacy?

Issues of privacy and confidentiality are a primary concern at Janus. In accordance with Federal law and out of concern for our client's welfare, we will not disclose your presence in treatment without your written consent. Janus complies with all Federal Confidentiality Regulations and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards. See Certification and Licensing

Q. Can my friends and family visit me if I’m in Residential Treatment?

Yes, we have an inclusive family and life partner program. Regular visiting times are provided and we encourage visitors, both adults and children, to attend the Saturday Family Program as a part of the visit process. A specific time and day is provided for visiting with children. See Friends and Family

Q. How successful are your programs?

Janus has one of the nation’s highest rates of commitment and completion, a highly significant indicator of substance abuse treatment success. Last year, 80% of Janus' Residential clients successfully completed treatment – compared to a national estimate of 56%.* The backbone of Janus’ success is our compassionate, experienced and capable Staff, many of whom have experienced their own addiction and recovery process, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of their clients’ needs. Q. How do I know if I really need treatment?

Call us: Janus provides a no-cost interview assessment. We have been identifying, understanding and treating addiction for more than 30 years. Addiction has clear signs and symptoms: these will be discussed openly and honestly with you. If treatment is advised, the counselor will help you review your options for treatment. [Janus uses the American Society for Addictions Medicine criteria in making treatment placement judgments.] See Admissions

Q: What are co-existing disorders? Is this something Janus deals with?

Co-existing disorders, or dual diagnosis, means that a person has two separate types of disorders at the same time. Someone who has a drug or alcohol addiction and also has a psychological or behavioral condition – such as depression, anxiety disorder or bipolar disorder – is said to have a dual diagnosis. At Janus, we know that addressing both co-existing conditions is critical for successful recovery. We use an integrated approach that includes working with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals during the treatment episode with us. See Treatment and Services

Q: I think a friend (or family member) needs treatment. What can I do to help?

You have taken an important step by seeking information. At least half of our inquiries come from someone who is concerned enough about a friend or relative to try to help him or her. See For Family and Friends and call us for more information.

Q: I’m in treatment – what if my family and friends need help to understand what I’m going through?

Our Residential Treatment Programs include services for families and significant others. See Residential Treatment and For Family and Friends.
