Helping Fathers Recover Fund

Amber Williams, a daughter who believes in the importance of fathers
|
My name is Amber Williams
and I know firsthand about the impact of addiction. I’m a Community Transition Counselor at Janus of Santa Cruz, as well as being in recovery myself since 2001.
And my father, Jeffrey Williams, was an alcoholic.
Jeff was my friend as well as my father.
He was a scientist with a Master’s degree, a good man with many positive qualities. But he needed treatment for his addiction. A single father, he raised my brother and me with love, compassion, values, morals – and just plain fun. My father’s life was cut short from alcoholism in May of 2009, when he was just 53 years old. Losing him took part of my life, too.

Join us in Helping Fathers Recover
I established the Helping Fathers Recover Fund because of my own experiences, to support recovery services for other fathers like mine – men in need, single fathers who are active in their children’s lives and who use alcohol as their primary drug of abuse.
Very few funding sources currently exist to help single fathers seeking treatment for alcohol addiction. Helping Fathers Recover works through Janus of Santa Cruz to provide financial aid specifically to single fathers over age 50, in need of alcohol treatment. This fund needs your help to grow. |

In hope and health,
Amber Williams, Community Transition Coordinator, has worked at Janus since 2004. She is a graduate of the Janus Perinatal Treatment program. In addition to establishing the Helping Fathers Recover Fund, Amber hopes to create a program for youth at Janus. “I feel blessed to work in the field of substance abuse treatment, to have a chance to make a difference and help others struggling with addiction.”
