Admissions Counselor

Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Counselor is part of the multi-disciplinary Janus treatment team and responsible for completing the clinical admissions assessment for clients entering the recovery treatment and perinatal programs. These duties include in-person level-of-care assessments using the ASI, ASAM placement and motivational interviewing. The Admissions Counselor completes intakes, assessments and administrative paperwork and works with persons impaired by substance abuse with or without co-occurring mental or physical health issues. This position is part-time, 20 hours per week.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Completes the entire admissions assessment in the Medical Records System.
•Conducts basic client and family orientations including overview of program guidelines and structure.
•Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of community resources; provides information, referrals and follow-up.
•Exhibits genuine concern for clients and always conducts oneself appropriately and professionally.
•Coordinates admissions appointments with Janus staff.
•Obtains authorizations for care and completes timely Utilization Reviews.
•Ensures that all documentation is completed in an accurate, complete and timely manner in compliance with all legal, licensing and regulatory requirements.
•Regularly collaborates and maintains cooperative relationships with area providers and state agencies to support the continuity of care, network coordination & responsiveness to client needs.
•Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and implement Electronic Medical Software AVATAR system in a timely manner.
•Regularly collaborates with Janus administrative staff, including billing, human resources, quality management, payroll, accounts payable, IT, etc., to maintain collaborative and collegial relationships that support mutual understanding, problem solving and ongoing responsiveness to department, program and administrative needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Preference for two (2) years paid experience providing direct substance abuse counseling services in an intensive setting under supervision.
•Preference for two (2) years paid experience providing direct sales of services or goods.
•Certified as a drug and alcohol counselor or registered in a State of California approved certifying organization required.
•Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and implement Electronic Medical Software (AVATAR) to perform essential job functions which includes but is not limited to thoroughly documenting and entering client related information and documents into the AVATAR system in a timely manner
•Ability to pass criminal background investigation.
•Adept at using all features of the telephone system and voicemail.
•CPR and First Aid certification prior to first day of employment and maintains currency.

Medical Biller / Collection Specialist
Under the general supervision of the Business Manager, the Medical Biller is responsible for the timely submission of claims to third party payers and collection and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable. This position is part-time, 20 hours per week

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Review and submit claims to third party payers from patient accounting system and resubmit claims as necessary.
•Review and correct daily rejection/submission reports to confirm claims submission.
•Assist with monthly invoicing to guarantors for continued care.
•Collection and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable in accordance with policies and procedures.
•Document all collection efforts and contacts in patient accounting system.
•Maintain log of any claim resubmissions, Rebill Log.
•Inform Business Manager of any potential issues which may delay payment and/or issues with specific payers.
•Support agency internal and external customer service standards.
•Maintains confidentiality of client records and privileged information in conformity with state and federal law and regulations.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Attends all required trainings and administrative meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
•1-2 years of experience in Medical Billing and Collections preferred.
•Knowledge of A/R process, CPT coding and medical terminology.
•Knowledge of office administrative procedures, use of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through 1+ year’s related experience.
•Knowledge of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks).
•Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of LVN / Staff Nurse I in the Medication Assisted Treatment Clinic and Residential Recovery Programs in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.

The Staff Nurse / LVN dispenses medication at the clinics and provides medical services to various Janus substance abuse treatment programs. Compassionate, energetic LVN with computer skills needed. Experience with chemical dependency a plus. A background check with drug screen is required.

Schedule: 32-36 hours a week. Salary: $25/ hour.

Perinatal Program Counselor

Perinatal Program Counselor

The Alcohol and Drug Counselor is responsible for individual and group counseling for chemically dependent individuals in our perinatal programs. They will perform comprehensive client assessments, lead a variety of treatment and educational groups, develop and conduct individualized treatment plans, and coordinate services with community agencies. Schedule: Full Time 40 hours/week – Schedule TBD.

Location:  Perinatal Residential Program, Santa Cruz

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete BPS assessments and treatment plans per agency standards (BPS within 7 days of admit, Treatment Plan within 14 days and signed by Medical Director by 21 days.
  • Thoroughly document and enter client related information and documents into the AVATAR system in a timely manner.
  • Complete charting and administrative paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Coordinate client care with other community agencies as needed.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Drug Urinalysis Testing procedure and administer client tests when necessary.
  • Facilitate treatment groups as assigned by Program Coordinator.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients.
  • Maintain a positive therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain compliance with all county, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical records and privileged information.
  • Provide case management as assigned.
  • Provide crisis counseling as needed.
  • Provide individualized counseling to clients.
  • Driving clients in the program van or personal vehicle may be required.

Qualifications: 

  • Certification in drug and alcohol counseling or registration in a State of California approved certifying organization is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience providing direct substance abuse counseling services in an intensive setting under supervision.

Treatment Technician

Treatment Technician I

Janus of Santa Cruz is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time position as nightshift Treatment Technician I in the Perinatal Residential Treatment (PRT) Program in downtown Santa Cruz. The Treatment Technician I provides support services and general client supervision to the Perinatal Residential Treatment and Recovery Programs and is a member of the clinical team.

Schedule: Thursday – Saturday, 11PM-7AM, plus on-call coverage as needed. Must be available to work nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a knowledge of the dynamics of chemical dependency, self-help recovery programs;
  • Basic organizational/office skills;
  • Demonstrated competence in interacting with a broad range of individuals in a professional manner;
  • Good conflict resolution and communication skills;
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Ability to work as part of a treatment team;
  • Experience working in a residential treatment program is preferred but not required;
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred but not required;
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and car.

Counselor – Santa Cruz Clinic

Janus of Santa Cruz is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Counselor. Counselors see patients for individual and group sessions Monday through Friday. The Clinic opens at 5:30 a.m and closes at 2:00 p.m. during the week. Weekend hours are 6:00 a.m. to Noon. Janus Community Clinic, 1000 Emeline Ave., Santa Cruz, CA.

-Working knowledge of applicable portions of Title 9, CARF requirements, and Title 22.

Parenting Assistant

Parenting Assistant

We have a current opening for a Parenting Assistant in the Janus Perinatal Treatment Program. The Parenting Assistant provides services in the childcare component for a residential and day treatment program in Santa Cruz.

Schedule:  10-15 hours a week and On-Call

Position Summary:

  • Provide direct services in the childcare cooperative.
  • Provide activities for positive growth of each child.
  • Offer a safe and healthy protected environment for children.
  • Collaborate as member of Perinatal team to provide parenting education, child development information and learning plans for clients in the program.
  • Follow agency policies, procedures and schedule relative to the ongoing conduct of the Perinatal treatment programs.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reports, documentation and other written materials as assigned.
  • Ability to provide emergency first aid and CPR if necessary

Qualifications:Parenting Assistant

  • Applicants must have experience working with children ages 0-5.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of chemical dependency, self-help recovery programs is a plus
  • Basic organizational/office skills
