Licensed by the State of California, Janus' Driving Under the Influence Program began in 1981, under a contract with the County of Santa Cruz, to provide drinking driver education and counseling services to residents of Santa Cruz County. Several programs are offered, including Educational, First Offender and Multiple Offender programs.
Janus offers no-cost treatment referral services to individuals assessed to be alcohol or drug dependent, working closely with the criminal justice system (including judges, adult probation, state parole and other referring agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles). We maintain an extensive list of referral resources and collaborate with other organizations to support our participants.
Program Services
• Intake & information
• Individual and group sessions
• Education and discussion sessions
• Alcohol and drug assessment procedures
Upon enrollment, an alcohol and drug assessment is conducted and the participant's personal substance abuse history is documented.
Every participant must provide a current court referral, a letter from the arresting agency or a current H-6 (life history) DMV printout. All files are routinely audited in accordance to the State and County procedures.
