Substance abuse is our nation's number one public health problem.

Substance abuse is responsible for half a million preventable deaths each year and is the cause of numerous social and family problems. It is also a very expensive problem. We need your help to keep the necessary treatment services available.

Treatment works.
A recent study by the State of California discovered that for each dollar spent on substance abuse treatment, seven dollars are saved -- on health care, criminal justice and worker productivity, to name just a few of the many resources impacted.

We need your help.
Unfortunately, however, there are too few treatment beds available for all those who need treatment -- less than one bed for every 20 addicts. If we are going to solve this problem, more quality treatment must be made available. Janus is ready to grow, but we need your help to do it.

Our projected donation requirement to significantly improve and expand our treatment programs and facilities over the next three years is $1.2 million dollars.

With this level of funds, we could:
. Increase Janus' residential treatment capacity significantly
. Expand Janus' treatment programs into the Watsonville  area
. Refurbish and improve existing facilities

Many areas of special need exist. Moreover, every dollar counts and matters. Because we have requirements of all sizes, any donation is appreciated -- no matter how large or small. You can help us help others.
